Moose Burger (BBQ)

Ingredients (3-4 servings)


  • 500g moose minced meat
  • 1/2 Yellow onion (grated)
  • 50g Bacon (finely chopped)
  • 0.5 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Flake salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Chili powder, to taste
  • Onion powder, to taste
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil

 Hamburger dressing

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tsp chili sauce
  • Salt & pepper


Put the moose minced meat in a mixing bowl and add finely chopped bacon pieces, grated onion, dijon mustard, olive oil and worcestershire sauce. Work together the ingredients into a smooth censure. Salt and pepper to taste while mixing.

Place the finished bag in the fridge while you start the grill, the burgers should be grilled directly at the average temperature.

When the grill has a nice glow and the appropriate temperature, you form the minced burger with your hands. Squeeze together to keep them together during the grilling. Also brush the burgers with a little olive oil just before you put them on the grill.

Grill them for about 3-4 minutes on each side, preferably with a closed lid so that they become extra juicy. We usually recommend that they are a bit pink inside, but that is of course up to each cook's liking.

When the burgers are ready, serve them together with homemade hamburger bread, dressing and any filling e.g. salad, cheese, tomatoes, onions, pickles and possibly some mustard and ketchup.

- The burgers can of course also bee cooked on a stove. Then fry them on medium to high heat and use a lid to keep them juicy.
- To make it truly Scandinavian, you can replace hamburger dressing with lingonberry jam as shown in the picture.
