How to succeed with bear meat

Bear meat is very tasty when cooked properly. That's why we've put together a guide on how to make the most of our most exclusive game meat.

Bear meat is the game with the most special flavour. The bear is an omnivore and the meat can vary quite a lot in flavour depending on what the bear has eaten during the summer before the hunt starts. It is usually said that bear meat tastes best under a really good blueberry sauce.

In the American wilderness, bear meat was considered the finest meat in the 19th century. "Deer is for clothing and bear is for eating" they used to say.

The finest pieces such as fillet and tenderloin become very tasty when cooked like most other game.

Otherwise, a good basic rule for cooking bear meat is to marinate the meat, preferably for at least 2-3 days and preferably in wine. Then you can cook it as a roast, stew or similar. I even tried my grandmother's old recipe for moose stew with noble cheese and mixed in bear meat and it was really good.

One tip we've heard from the great western country is to marinate the bear meat in milk and then fry it. We haven't tried this yet, but we'll update this page as soon as we know more.

Another good rule of thumb is that bear meat pairs very well with other dominant flavours such as BBQ sauce. Our bear burgers go very well with many other flavours but may not be as good as moose or wild boar burgers if you only eat the meat. For example, we can suggest the recipe Bear burger with whiskey onion.

Lastly, we would like to suggest our own recipe for Pulled Bear. It's a very tasty and exciting recipe that's easy to pull off as long as you have plenty of time.

Tasty stove!
